Homemade Chorizo

Sausage (8)

So this past weekend we decided to make our own homemade sausage. It’s been on our #dinnerfortwo to-do list a while. I am mainly the one that does our cooking; however, when hubby considers trying something new, I ALWAYS make sure we execute his ideas and projects too! It was roughly before the holidays he talked about getting a sausage maker. That’s all I needed to hear and my search began! 1st stop was Kitchen Collection, the only maker they offered was the attachment to the KitchenAide ($200 value) which we don’t own plus the grinder and sausage maker accessories ($100+)…  well my husband quickly insisted he did not want to invest that kind of money into probably a one-time activity for us. And it made sense to me because in our life we LOVE gadgets, LOVE trying random things, especially in the kitchen but mainly we LOVE having fun together!

Days went by and after a conversation with my mother, we came up with frugal ideas of making homemade sausages. A meat grinder isn’t really needed if we buy prepackaged ground meat. (Harris Teeter and Lowe’s stock beef, pork, elk, buffalo) and that’s when the light bulb popped and I said Amazon MUST have a manual sausage maker! For less than a $30 investment, my husband was on board instantly!
