Dinner for Two

“I want to spend every moment with you.

That includes us accomplishing everything together; even the kitchen.”

In marriage we tend to adapt roles; it may be your husband is in charge of taking out the garbage or fixing the car. Then often times wives automatically execute the domestic role of laundry and cooking “supper”. Now we are here, constantly working towards our happily ever after. Once the children grow older or even before their born (they may be babies!) we have to figure out dinner plans. Whether you’re cooking regularly for two or your looking to spice up the night with a romantic dinner…

I can recall a time in my grandparents lives when I was a young girl and my grandmother always prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner for my grandfather. I never recall him even pouring a glass of juice. So naturally I grew up deciding to take on the same role in the kitchen. After trial and error in the beginning years, my husband and son loved my cooking! They would even request dishes seen on TV or in a magazine. And cooking always brought me comfort as if I was taking care of my family to the best of my ability.

After our son graduated from high school and started life the reality of an empty nester kicked in so I had to create meals for two. It was no longer big family dinners with left overs or quick meals because of pending schedules. Yet it was a time for my husband and I to sit together, just the two of us, at the dinner table and discuss our day over a home cooked meal. I’ve been cooking and pinning my meals for years and through time I like to consider myself the family chef. So now with the help of my sous chef (hubby) we could make restaurant quality dishes from a collection of my old recipes, in the comfort of our home, together creating the perfect combination of dinner for two.

To commemorate our 20 years of marriage, we decided to share our favorite meals. The majority of our recipes consist of seafood and pork. I am a Charlestonian so my love for seafood is extreme. As for my husband, he grew up on a pig farm so pork is always his meat of choice. This is truly a combination of love and flavor. Enjoy!
