sleep through cool nights, awake to morning dew
October is one of my favorite times of the year. For me, it’s the opening to the holiday season. While shopping you see the combination of Halloween, Fall, and Christmas decor strategically set to capture the eyes of a potential buyer. Over the years, I have purchased more Christmas in early fall than in November or December. Although life has drawn me to shopping more online it still doesn’t prevent me from going to my favorite stores and shops just to see up close and in person the latest fashion and gadgets on the market.
BTW HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Bradley’s Homestead fall garden consists of collard greens, mustard greens, turnips, kale, cabbage, garlic, onions, and assortments of lettuce. Duties on the farm have slowed tremendously since Larry and Curtis went to freezer camp. Honestly, I didn’t realize how much work it was raising pigs. I just collectively felt that having animals took on more duties. But after being without my pigs for a few months now, I know that I am in no hurry to get more any time soon. I see the difference with just having to tend to our hens and rabbits. I am loving my freedom!
This month I decided to move forward with my “Herbalist goals”. Over the past 2 years on our homestead, I have learned so much about gardening, farming and mainly eating healthy from the land. My dehydrating and canning interests have inspired me to create more health-conscious spices, blends, oils, and sauces. However, I understand that HERBS are a major component of health consciousness. And because of this, I am currently studying herbalism, apothecaries, and holistic healing. Not sure where my training will take me but I do know that each day I become more and more intrigued by the homesteading movement!
Before I go, let me share this silly problem I am suffering from. “I DESPISE BUYING PRODUCE!” I never knew the woman I have become.
