Wow! Just realized that it’s been roughly 5 months since my last post. Where has the time gone? I just reflected on that day when I told my husband I wanted to start a blog, which was my 2019 vision board goal, I just knew that I was going to be able to dedicate 1-3 days out of the month to share my/our journey with the world! But like some goals, they are acquired but just at a slower pace. I guess!
One thing is for sure that I still believe in this blog and my meaning for starting it. I decided to create All Things LOVE in order to pour more love into our universe. Of course, we all grow with time, life challenges, and circumstances but we all understand the importance of balancing our life and our goals. So reflecting back to my 2019 vision I was starting a new year without our son so I decided to create a blog spreading my love to the world in memory of him. Now if you have been following my posts just know that each word that I have ever typed is always in memory of that guy who stole my heart at birth! I have promised myself that I am going to return to blogging especially since I have so much going on in my life these days. Of course, I still spread love every chance I get and I am still cooking and trying new recipes, of course crafting is still in affect but not traveling so much since the pandemic and our new home. The homestead. Remember? We have done so much more since my last post in October 2020. It’s safe to say that I am a farmer for sure! We have animals, year-round garden boxes, and constant new projects on the homestead.
My hubby loves to say that there is always something that needs to be done. Which I have learned to realize, he’s absolutely right! Just the other day we made plans to attend brunch with some friends and I awoke to intruders (squirrels) in the duck coop then I found out they created an entrance in the chicken coop as well. So we canceled brunch and headed to Tractor Supply and spent our afternoon repairing coops. This is our new life on the homestead!

We still have two of our hens, Cookie, and Lala. We were surprised with our 1st egg on our son’s birthday, 02/25/2021. Now we roughly get 1-2 eggs per day and I am in love with the idea of having fresh eggs in my backyard. My ladies are the sweetest too. I had no idea that I would like chickens so much.

“You asked about my piggies?” Larry and Curtis are doing good. They love to root which I hate because I want them to be clean little piggies but I have quickly realized that they are pigs so I respect their messy pin. I must admit that taking them to the market crosses my mind weekly but I could never! Besides pigs were always my first pick for farm animals. My husband grew up on a pig farm, I knew he had experience so I wanted to bring a part of his childhood here.

What I haven’t shared yet on a post is our other additions…
Meet Billy and Tilly, our laid-back ducks. The only animals on our farm that creates no chaos. I never knew how calm ducks were until we got our own. They just swim, eat when needed, sleep at night and look around all day. I call them our guard ducks. As of last week, they started a new hobby of sitting on top of their shelter so I guess they get a better view up there.
Finally, our 2 bunnies named Saint and Valentino. I can’t tell them apart so I refer to each of them as Saint Valentino. Their name came about because it was an early birthday present to me and my birthday is on Valentine’s Day. As a child my parents always got me rabbits so my husband felt that it was only right to add them to the farm but they came last because I needed true farm animals first!

I am adjusting to my farm life schedule, normally I feed the animals and water the garden between 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. I schedule my appointments no earlier than 9:30 a.m. I am commuting to the city so it does take longer so some mornings my animals (or my churn as I call them) get fed earlier than 7:30 a.m. or as late at 11:00 a.m. I really try to keep them on a schedule because I hate being hungry and don’t want them starving either.
We currently have pepper bushes, an herb garden and many other veggies planted; collards, cabbage, spinach, variety of lettuce, kale, celery, tomatoes, peas, beans, flowers, etc.

2021 is here! 2020 was unbelievable but we made and I thank God daily! So many left this world by the thousands daily so if nothing else I have learned to appreciate life: every second, of a minute to the hour even more than before! It’s a new year but the same me so I shall continue to spread love… stay tuned!
