We visited Aiken, S.C. Valentine’s 2018. It was my first time there and we decided to visit one of our weekend getaways to “nowhere”. The most fascinating part of Aiken, S.C. is their hospitality. Now living in the south has taught me a southern charm for sure but this place is filled with wonderful inexpensive ventures and the town is filled with activities for all ages to enjoy for free or at minimum costs.
While there, we took advantage of the historic trolley tour. The tour was informative with visits to historic homes, historic churches, equestrian sites, and a guided walk through Hopelands Gardens, the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame & Museum.

If you are ever on a trip to “nowhere” and wonder upon Aiken, S.C. consider stopping for the day and visit the longest railroad in the world at this time and the home of the first steam-powered commercial railroad in the United States.
